Chip was born and raised, the oldest of three, in Savannah, GA. He attended Benedictine Military School, where he led the golf team to a runner-up finish in the state championship his senior year, and competed in the Wal-Mart First Tee Open at Pebble Beach in 2008 and 2009. Following high school, Chip attended Mercer University and graduated with a B.S. in chemistry in 2014. His undergraduate research work primarily focused on natural product synthesis (supervised by Dr. Adam Kiefer), but he also ventured into some nanoparticle research (supervised by Dr. Caryn Seney) and monomer synthesis (supervised by Dr. Adam Kiefer). Chip began working in the Rupar group during the summer of 2014, and is interested in synthesizing novel polymers. In his spare time, Chip enjoys sports, music, and cooking.
