Born to a family of 9, Michael was raised on the shore of New Jersey in Asbury Park. After graduating high school at the top of his class, he joined The University of Alabama’s class of 2017 on a full tuition presidential scholarship as a chemistry major and mathematics minor.
During his first year at UA, he participated in a research program doing field work in the Amazon Rainforest and Andes Mountains, where he developed a love for working with the environment. Now a sophomore, he is a researcher in the Rupar Group synthesizing novel electron deficient conjugated polymers and learning about their application in organic electronics such as solar voltaic devices. In his spare time, Michael enjoys hiking, playing guitar, film, drawing, and reading.
